What to Wear

First of all, What is YOUR favorite "Go To" outfit??

Sometimes it's great to start there!

It helps to get ideas from friends, siblings, or parents if you are needing input! Give your Mom a chance to have a little input too, and wear that blue shirt she says "Matches your eyes"! It's always nice to have options and variety!

 General "What to Wear" Tips-

for choosing outfits for a portrait session:

  • Comfort First: Choose outfits that you feel comfortable and confident in. You want to be relaxed and at ease during the session.

  • Solid Colors and Simple Patterns: Solid colors and subtle patterns tend to photograph well and keep the focus on you. Avoid overly busy patterns or logos/words.

  • Complementary Colors: If you're taking group photos, coordinate colors without being too matchy-matchy. Complementary colors or a range of color tones create a harmonious look.

  • Layers and Textures: Adding layers and textures (like a denim jacket, cardigan, or scarf) can add depth and interest to your photos.

  • Avoid All White or All Black: These colors can sometimes look harsh, contrasty in photos.

  • Consider the Location and Season: Dress appropriately for the setting and time of year. For example, warm tones and cozy textures for autumn, or light fabrics and bright jewel toned colors for summer.

  • Bring Options: It's always a good idea to bring a few different outfits to change into. This way, you can have a variety of looks in your photos. Hat on & Hat off for a few.

  • Accentuate Your Best Features: Choose clothing that flatters your body shape and highlights your best features.

  • Minimal Accessories: Keep accessories simple and minimalistic. They should complement your outfit without being distracting. Bring those sunglasses for a couple fun images too!

  • Avoid Trends: Stick with classic styles that won't look dated in a few years. Timeless pieces ensure your photos remain stylish

  • Remember, the most important thing is to go with the flow, have a fun experience and feel confident in what you're wearing! If you have a specific style or theme in mind, feel free to share it, and we can figure out best locations and color of backgrounds to be complementary as well.
