kasey k. & berta's Roadtrip Extravaganza 2010 :)

Hello Everyone! This is your super secret "sneak peak" of my recent roadtrip/vacation with my beautiful Mommy (a.k.a. Berta or Roberta :)) This is the third year that my Mom & I have taken a trip together. We've always gone in the fall- but this year we went at the beginning of November (as the busy season was still going strong in October for portraits.) We went for 9 days-- to many different locations-- we had a few places in mind-- but it's nice to get in the car & drive wherever the wind may take us too. Here are a few photo collages for you to take a look at--as you can see- I took a TON of photos on our trip- as did Berta--but there was no way i could post all of them- so these are just a bunch of my favorites...hope you enjoy! We had a really great time!

The first day we headed out & visited a few antique stores & had lunch in Galena, IL where their were some fun shops & a small design museum. Then we went down to Dubuque, Iowa to meet up with my cousins Amber, her husband & daughter Lily. It was wonderful visiting with them & really fun running around & being silly with little Lily!

We drove on....& got some delicious chicken fajitas for dinner with the happy sunshine guy...We were also tourists in St. Louis, MO night & day. Visiting the Gateway to the West-St. Louis Arch & walked thru the beautiful park to visit the museum underneath it-and then paid $10 to go to the top!

Some of these images were from the museum we visited underneath the archway & then the view from the top of the St. Louis Arch--and that's the little module/elevator deal that took Mom & I up in only 4mins to the top :) I also didn't know that my Dad's face was on a coin!--It looks JUST like him!

Some delicious fried artichoke hearts--that we had while eating outside on the street patio in St. Louis-there were lots of birds who came to nibble up the crumbs. :) The Chief Red Cloud was a moving & talking figure who told his story under the archway museum. The Mississippi River-bridge in the park. Also the Drury Inn where we stayed one night had a 5:30 Kickback/Happy Hour which was really nice with free drinks & wings, nachos, egg rolls & other snacks. The railroad track is down the road again- we stayed in Cape Girardeau one day/night visiting tons of stores & explored the area by the Mississippi River.

All of these images are from MEMPHIS Tennessee! All on Beale Street. Live Music & Awesomeness. Blues City Cafe- where there was an amazingly entertaining band & lead singer. Rum Boogie Cafe where we had a Southern Style platter for dinner with Gator Gumbo, Beans & Rice, Catfish, Ribs, Fries, BBQ pork, & coleslaw & delicious fruity drinks. Silky O'Sullivans has an outdoor patio where they always have live music too. I love Memphis!

Berta & I were in Memphis 2 nights & this food is the most amazing salad bar you will ever have! Texas de Brazil Steakhouse--Deliciousss salad bar, asparagus, smoked salmon, sushi, fresh mozzarella, artichokes, grilled zuchini, sundried tomatoes, cheeses, salads with balsamic vinegrette dressing, and lobster bisque soup . YUM! and you can try as many different meats that a server brings around as you would like- easy to get full fast! fancy schmancy-but worth it! Of course we went out to listen to more music after.

We also went to Nashville, TN to visit our favorite Honky Tonks. The street to visit in Nashville is Broadway Street. It has some great 'historic' places where a lot of country musics greatest singers have performed and frequently visit. We were there during the night & day time. Mom got a hotel basically free by using her priority club points--so that is the free holiday inn! haha. and the view from our balcony of the room. We had some delicious chili & corncakes & salad with honey mustard dressing at Rippy's on Broadway for lunch :)

That guy is Jimmy- he performs with a band at the famous Tootsies Orchid Lounge on Broadway in Nashville- We visited here last year too- this year I got a cool T-shirt for Tootsies 50th anniversary :)

The trip home was pretty quick thru Indiana & Chicago & back to Delavan. All in All, I have to say Thank You to my Awesome & beautiful Mom (Berta) for the 3rd year of fun memories of trips together/experiencing random places of the world. (Next year France!---We wish we could go back someday!) I love my Mommy & will always remember all of these great times! xoxoxo!
Hope you all enjoyed the super secret sneak peak! :) Stay tuned for more adventures with Kasey K.!
With Love,
